Chongqing Overview

Chongqing is the largest municipality in Southwest China, with more than 30 million people. Known as the Mountain City (Chongqing has quite a few nicknames), it has maintained rapid economic growth and development, while still preserving its natural environments. Chongqing boasts bumpy terrains, a wealth of water reserves, mineral resources, and dense forests.

There are many famous tourist attractions in Chongqing. Such as the Monument to the people’s Liberation, Chaotianmen, Hongya cave, Three gorges, Dazu Rock Carvings. Among one of the most famous tourist attractions in Chongqing is the Three Gorges, tourists can visit the Qutang Gorge, the Wu Gorge, and Xiling Gorge by boat leaving from the Chaotianmen Pier. The beautiful scenery on both sides of the river attracts local Chinese tourists as well as tourists from all over the world.

Chongqing is famous for its food. The flavor is mainly spicy. While hotpot is the most famous cuisine in Chongqing, you’ll find a lot of interesting and varied diet in this mountain city such as Chuan Chuan, dry pot, poached meat slices, and so on, are all filled with hot peppers, but very delicious. Chongqing noodles are also one of Chongqing people’s indispensable meals too.
